Timeline
The timeline of Irithia is rather incomplete from the viewpoint of the creatures of this world.
All that is really known is that the age that we are currently in is considered the Third Age of Irithia. Apparently, the first age was ended due to some large scale war of man, creature, and gods alike. There seems to have been a great rift in the planar continuem that merged the various elemental planes with the very fabric that made up the material plane. Chaos insued and that age was ended. Beyond this, there are no details known by the vastness of mankind; as far as anybody knows, nearly all records of the events of the first age are destroyed.
The rift has thus been named the Tempest and all time is based upon this event. Time before the Tempest is called Before-Tempest as time after the Tempest is called Post-Tempest.
Most scholars agree that the tempest occured nearly 1400 years ago, but they have no idea how long the first age itself lasted.
The Second Age lasted from year 1 Post-Tempest until about 200 years or so before the time in the current age. Documentation of this era was not all lost, so it is fairly well known that the end of this age was set up by the release of Lord Avaresh, a terror of ancient times, as well as the actions of a particular group of adventurers. The precise way that mankind perished in this age is not fully documented nor understood. Scant journal documents have been found; but they consistently mention some great creature that itself contributed almost entirely to the near extinction of the races of mankind.
The Third Age of Irithia is therefore only into its second or third century Post-Tempest. The races of man and monster have been busy with repopulating the planet and rebuilding the once great kingdoms. Although the devastation from the end of the second age was vast, enough people had survived the Second Age that the mastery of construction and vast knowledge obtained through the years also survived. Repopulation has been very rapid and great advances have occured in this time of growth.
Some minor wars and other misdeeds are already setting in, but all in all this age has been the most peaceful yet; at least as compared to the documentation found discussing the previous ages.
Curently, it is accepted as truth that Irithia is in its 14th century PT.
